Erick Avila, guitarist, founding member, composer and music producer of the Chilean band Six Magics, with over 20 years of history and published worldwide.
The band toured Europe and Asia and in 2015 also opened for the German group Axxis, touring 15 cities in Germany
Six Magics has had the privilege to be on the same stage as bands like Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Tarja, Epica and has been a part of emblematic festivals such as “LaCumbre del Rock” and “The Metal Fest” where the bands Kreator, Volbeat, Venom, Anthrax among others were also present.
Producers such as David Prater and Charlie Bauerfeind have praised his commitment and work inside and out of the studio.
After the creation of his first solo album, “Oblivion”, Erick decides to take it on the road in March 2013, touring Germany for 6 months. The German label Nuclear Blast was in charge of the distribution of the album and Erick was invited to play during the halftime show of an American Football match, to participate in “Stadt Fest” in Duren and play at a concert orchestrated by the German group: BOM, faithful friends and followers of Six Magics.
In 2014, Erick decided to versify his musical repertoire by creating a fusion of Latin American Folklore and rock, covering emblematic Chilean folk songs and performing on stages throughout Chile. On one of which he opened for the American guitarist Paul Gilbert and on another one closing the national festival "the Metal Fest" at Movistar Arena.
During the same year he also released his first live solo DVD: “Desde el Sur”, which first edition sold out quickly. This DVD shows Erick performing songs from his solo album “Oblivion” and his Latin American Folk covers.
During 2015, while he was on tour in Germany with his band Six Magics, he began the composition of his second solo album. Once again, diving into the union of Latin Folk and Rock, but this time making creations of his own.
His latest album, titled “Origen”, was released during the second semester of 2016 and contains13 songs, for one of which (“…Y FuimosCueca”)a video clip was made ,this video displays well-known Chilean Dancer Rodrigo Díaz interpreting traditional Chilean Folk movements and wardrobe.
“Origen” has been reviewed and given excellent comments from specialized media. The popular rock radio Futuro has also chosen it as “Album of the Year 2016” in the Instrumental category.
In February 2017, continuing with the promotion of the new album, Erick performs at the mega festival "Rockódromo" in the city of Valparaiso, Chile, along with musical legends such as Los Jaivas and Congreso.
In June, during the same year, Avila had a conference at Aalto University in Helsinki called "Rock and Latin American roots: multicultural influence and perspectives in music". He was invited to have the same conference at Turku Rock Academy.
At the end of 2017 Avila had a mini tour in Germany showing his fusion of Latin American Folklore and rock. He played in Duisburg, Aachen and two shows in Düren.
In the beginning of 2018 Avila started to work with Finnish musicians and together play in Turku where Avila also showed his Fusion music with a great audience´s feedback. In march, Turku Rock Academy invited Erick Avila to give an open event at Vimma "Latinamerican Folk and Metal music Overview".
In March 2018 Avila went to Chile and had shows in cultural places and conferences in schools. Before going back to Finland to continue working with Finnish musicians, Avila had a farewell concert in Batuta venue, a double show with his band Six Magics and his solo project. Concert was sold out.
In the last months of 2018 Avila came back to Finland to continue his work with Finnish musicians. He has had gigs around Turku area and two performances in primary and secondary schools of Kaarina.
